Google finally rolled out the redesign of Google Play for the web that it announced during its I/O developer conference. The redesign makes browsing for content much more of a visual experience, bringing it inline with the Play store on Android.

Clicking on an app, book, or album will bring up large buttons to install or “Add to Wishlist”. Screenshots have been made larger so they’re actually visible without opening them up fullscreen. The entire web experience has been redesigned to what we’ve seen on Android with suggested apps at the bottom, change log in the middle, and ratings toward the top. Everything’s located on the same page now so gone are the tabs for description, what’s new, and additional info.

The Play redesigned for the web revealed something interesting: Google Glass support. Nicolas Gramlich noticed that one of the apps in the Play store listed Google Glass as being supported. The function doesn’t seem to work just yet but it could mean that native Android apps (APKs) could be coming soon to Google Glass. As of now, Glass only supports “Glassware” apps, which are very basic apps.

Integrating Glass apps into Play would make sense, as users can easily browse and trigger installations from the web. Google Play will continue to be an all inclusive hub for all Google Android devices to get every type of content.
